CLOSED

Averitt Center for the Arts

The Averitt Center will be closed and classes are canceled on Wednesday, 8/30. 

Area Christians Together in Service (ACTS)

ACTS will be closed today and will be open again next Wednesday.

Believers Church of Statesboro

Believers will be closed for all activities and life groups tonight, August 30th.

Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County

The Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County will be closed Wednesday, August 30th, and Thursday, August 31st. We will follow the same schedule as the Bulloch County School System. Our plans are to reopen on Friday September 1st.

Bulloch County Offices

All non-essential and administrative Bulloch County offices will be closed Wednesday, August 30th and Thursday, August 31st in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Idalia. We will continue to monitor conditions in coordination with Public Safety and Public Works tomorrow to make a determination about Thursday. Be on the lookout for information regarding Thursday’s operations by mid-day Wednesday.

Statesboro Housing Authority

The Statesboro Housing Authority main office will be closed Wednesday, August 30, 2023 due to inclement weather from Hurricane Idalia.  

City of Brooklet

Brooklet City Hall will be closing at 12:00 p.m. today due to the inclement weather. We will reopen on Thursday if possible. Residents are asked to bring their carts in from the street curb and secure them at their residences on Wednesday and Thursday as the storm passes through. Carts can cause a safety risk when they turn over in the roadway or become airborne. Stay Safe! 


Schools

Bulloch County Schools

Due to the expected impact of Hurricane Idalia on our area, Bulloch County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30, and Thursday, Aug. 31, for all students and staff. All aftercare services that are held in our school buildings will be suspended as well for these days, as well as all athletics and extracurricular activities.

Bible Baptist Christian Academy & Daycare

Bible Baptist Christian Academy AND Daycare will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. This closure includes all school operations, after-school activities, athletics, and other extracurricular activities.

Bulloch Academy

Bulloch Academy will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, for school and all after-school activities. Students in grades 6-12 will continue with virtual learning.

Statesboro STEAM Academy

Statesboro STEAM will be closed for the remainder of this week heading into our session break.

Trinity Christian School

Trinity Christian School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Candler County Schools

UPDATE:  Candler County Schools has decided to CANCEL school on Wednesday after initially deciding for early dismissal. They made this decision after learning Idalia had increased to a Cat. 4 Hurricane.  

Georgia Southern University

GS is canceling all in-person events on Wednesday, August 30 through noon on Thursday, August 31.  All classes will continue online for Wednesday and Thursday.  

Until that “all-clear” is issued, only essential personnel should be on campus on Wednesday, Aug. 30 and until noon on Thursday, Aug. 31. Employees should check with their supervisor if they are unsure about their status as an essential employee. 

Students living on campus are welcome to shelter in place in their residence halls. Your classes on Wednesday and Thursday will be held online. Below are anticipated dining hall hours and operations for the remainder of the week. Learn more online. 

Non-essential employees should expect to report back to work on Thursday at noon, pending a declared “all-clear.”

Ogeechee Technical College

OTC will be closed on Wednesday, August 30th, and Thursday, August 31.

Georgia Southern Museum

Closed Wednesday 8/30 and Thursday 8/31.


CORE Credit Union

All branches closed Wednesday, August 30.

East Georgia Medical Groups & Clinics

All East Georgia Medical Groups and clinics will be closed on Wednesday, August 30th. Those clinics include Cedar Surgical Assoc., East Ga Cardiology, East Ga Gastroenterology Institute, Statesboro Family Practice, East Ga Primary Care & Internal Medicine, East Ga Pulmonary & Sleep Disorder Med, Internal Med Assoc. of East Ga., Statesboro Imaging Center, East Ga Pain Management, and the Wound Care Center. EGRMC will update its social media if there are any other changes expected including Thursday's operating hours.

First Baptist Church Weekday Preschool

Closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Fixing the Boro

FTB will be closed for the safety of its clients and staff Wednesday 8/30. If you had an appointment scheduled, you will be receiving a call about rescheduling before the end of day Tuesday.

Forest Heights Country Club

All FHCC facilities will be closed on Wednesday, 8/30. Barring any damage or power outages from the storm, the club will resume normal hours on Thursday, 8/31.

Goodwill Southeast Georgia

Goodwill stores and Opportunity Centers will be closed Wednesday, 8/30. 

Hearts & Hands Clinic

The clinic is closed Wednesday, 8/30, and Thursday, 8/31. All appointments will be rescheduled.

Southeast Health District Sites & Mako Testing Sites

Due to the potential for severe weather associated with Hurricane Idalia, all clinics and offices of the Southeast Health District will close at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, Aug. 29, and remain closed until 10:00 AM on Thursday, Aug. 31. This includes the health departments in Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Bulloch, Candler, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Evans, Jeff Davis, Pierce, Tattnall, Toombs, Ware and Wayne counties. The Mako COVID-19 testing sites in Bulloch and Coffee counties and the LTS COVID-19 testing sites in Toombs and Ware counties will be closed at the same times our health departments will be closed. Anyone with a scheduled clinic appointment during the closure will be contacted for another appointment. Urgent needs may contact us at 1-855-473-4374.

Statesboro-Bulloch County Library

The library will be closed Wednesday, August 30th due to the weather. We plan to open at our normal time on Thursday, 8/31. Please call before you arrive. 912-764-1341. No fines will be charged while we are closed.

Statesboro Family YMCA

The YMCA is closed Wednesday, 8/30, and will reopen on Thursday, 8/31, at noon, pending weather. All programs are canceled Wednesday and Thursday. 24-hours access is suspended until we reopen Thursday.

SERVICE SUSPENDED

Statesboro Area Transit Buses

Statesboro Area Transit will suspend bus services on Wednesday, August 30th, due to inclement weather expected from Hurricane Idalia. Services will resume on Thursday, August 31st.

City of Statesboro Residential Waste Collection

There will be no residential waste collection on Wednesday, August 30 or Thursday, August 31. Sanitation services will resume on Friday, September 1, with collection of Wednesday's route. Thursday's route will be collected on Saturday, September 2. Residents are asked to bring their poly carts in from the street curb and secure them at their residences on Wednesday and Thursday as the storm passes through. Poly carts can pose a safety risk when they turn over in the roadway or become airborne.

US 280 Signalized Intersection @ Hyundai

Due to anticipated high winds entering the area, the Georgia Department of Transportation will this afternoon remove a temporary signalized intersection near the Hyundai construction entrance on U.S. Route 280/State Route 30. The portable signal setup rests a short distance from the Interstate 16 exit between Aspen Lane and Olive Branch Road. Georgia DOT will confirm the reinstallation date when available.

Believers Church Wednesday Night Services

Believers will be closed for all activities and life groups tonight, August 30th.

Bulloch County Superior Court Jury Selection for Wednesday, August 30th canceled

Jury Selection for Wednesday, August 30th in the Superior Court of Bulloch County with Judge Lovett Bennett has been canceled.  If you received a jury summons for this date, you do not need to appear.  Thank you.  – Heather Banks McNeal, Clerk of Superior Court

Bulloch Rec Sports & Programming

All senior adult activities, instructional programs at Honey Bowen, football, cheer, and soccer are canceled 8/29-8/31. Activities will resume as scheduled next week after the Labor Day holiday.

First Baptist Statesboro Midweek on Main

Based on the current forecast and weather predictions #fbcboro will be closed for all evening activities on August 30. Please join us in praying for the safety of those that will be impacted by this storm.

Statesboro Rotary Club Meeting

President Bob Olliff has advised that due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Idalia that the decision has been made to cancel tomorrow's meeting (8/30). The board meeting is also being canceled.
