UPDATE: Candler County Schools has decided to CANCEL school on Wednesday after initially deciding for early dismissal.
They made this decision after learning Idalia had increased to a Cat. 4 Hurricane.
From Candler County Schools:
Wednesday AM: The Hurricane has increased to a category 4. We have been monitoring through the night and have decided to CANCEL school for today (Wednesday, August 30, 2023). We will continue to monitor and will update you regarding school for Thursday later in the day (Wednesday).
Tuesday PM: This early dismissal will allow our students to minimize loss of instructional time and also have two meals at school. Forecasts show wind speed increasing around 3pm. School officials will continue to monitor Idalia and make adjustments in the best interests of students and families.
