WEATHER ALERT: Bulloch County under a tornado watch till 2 pm

Saturday is a severe weather alert day. NWS Charleston has issued a tornado watch for Bulloch and surrounding counties until 2 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024. They have also issued alerts for the potential of flooding and severe thunderstorms. Continue to watch this story for updates if conditions change.

At 6:40 AM Saturday, March 9, 2024 the National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Tornado Watch for Southern Georgia and Northern Florida, including Bulloch and surrounding counties until 2 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

They have have also issued Flooding and Severe Thunderstorm alerts.

Flooding: Widespread significant rain will impact portions of southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina through midday. Rainfall amounts as high as 1 to 2 inches will be possible and conditions in these areas are already quite wet thanks to recent above normal rainfall over the last few weeks. The combination of wet current conditions and additional significant rainfall will produce the threat of minor flooding today. An isolated occurrence of more significant flooding will be possible as well.

Severe Thunderstorms: After widespread rainfall ends later this morning, thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon. If thunderstorms are able to develop, a few storms could become severe with the threat of damaging wind gusts, large hail, and even a tornado. The best chance for severe thunderstorms will be across southeast Georgia.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. High near 76. Southwest wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
