Charleston, South Carolina – For many families, the transition from Little League to travel baseball comes with stress, anxiety and questions about what to look for in a team and what to expect from the experience, but for Sluggers Elite 12U, there is no question that this is the right team.
Last weekend Sluggers Elite won the gold championship division of the Top 40 12U Championship going 5-0. Overall the team did really well at the tournament. There were 40 teams present at the tournament. In the Sluggers Elite Division, 21 teams were participating and the Sluggers ended up seeded third out of the 21.
Throughout the tournament the team:
- Went 5-0
- Hit .455 RBI
- Made 6 home runs
- Scored 66 runs
- Gave up only 15 runs
- Seeded out 3 of the Top 40 teams
- Defeated the number 1 AAA South Carolina team 13-6
“This is a team that has a bunch of boys that have played rec ball since 4 and travel ball since 8u together. This was our 3rd trip and our first trip was win-less,” Coach Brad Sheffield said. “We were runner-ups last year and the champs this year. It really showed the growth over the last couple of years of these outstanding players. We are so proud of them.”
Coach Bobby Lewis, Coach Darren Jernigan, and Coach Brad Sheffield are so proud of this team and what they've accomplished so far in the season.
The Sluggers Elite 12 U travel team will be back in action on April 20-21 in Dublin, Georgia.
