Georgia Southern men's and women's basketball will both face Eastern Michigan in November as a part of the initial MAC-SBC Challenge, announced by league officials.

The challenge — a scheduling alliance between the two leagues — will kick off during the opening week of the 2023-24 season. The Georgia Southern men will play at EMU on Saturday, Nov. 11, while the Georgia Southern women will host EMU on the same date, with game times to be determined later.

The second MAC-SBC Challenge contest for each team will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, with the matchups — based on real-time NET rankings — to be announced in January. The MAC women and the Sun Belt men will host the February matchups.

Scheduling assistance for the event is provided by Ordinal Sports Group. In addition to relevant NET data, geography and frequency of past contests are considered in determining the matchups.

The Nov. 11 meeting between Georgia Southern men's basketball and Eastern Michigan will be the first in program history between the two schools.

Georgia Southern women's basketball has met Eastern Michigan once previously — on Dec. 11, 1993, the Eagles defeated the EMU Eagles, 87-67, at the UAB Lady Blazer Tournament in Birmingham, Ala.
