FarmDaze 24-Hour Run: The world's longest fun run hosted at Hunter Cattle Co. in Brooklet, GA

Nestled in the scenic pastures of Hunter Cattle Company in Brooklet, Georgia, FarmDaze 24 has evolved into a cherished annual event that blends endurance racing with a family-friendly atmosphere.

The event was co-created by ultrarunner Andrew Snope, who had experienced a grueling 100-mile race and wanted to create something that celebrated both movement and community. What began as a small gathering is now an eagerly anticipated festival featuring races, camaraderie, and lighthearted fun.

Unlike traditional ultra-races, FarmDaze 24 takes a less severe, experience-driven approach. The event welcomes runners of all skill levels to participate in 6-hour, 12-hour, or 24-hour endurance races on a 2-mile loop through open fields and shaded woodlands. Rather than focusing solely on competition, the event emphasizes personal growth, mutual support, and enjoyment.

Logistical planning is extensive, ensuring runners receive not just physical aid but also psychological support. Pacers can help runners stay motivated; the environment encourages perseverance rather than pressure. Over the years, the race has grown to include fireworks, pranks, and an unmistakable family reunion vibe.

I had the opportunity to walk the trail myself, taking roughly 40 minutes to complete the loop. Experiencing the course firsthand gave me a deeper appreciation for the endurance required to run for hours on end and the beauty of the landscape that makes FarmDaze 24 such a special event.

Many participants have shared memorable experiences at FarmDaze 24. Leah Miller, for example, relied on her rugby background and standing desk workouts to prepare, overcoming nausea and knee pain during the race.

A seasoned marathoner, Carlee James enjoys the event's family-oriented setting, running alongside her daughter. Laney Waz, a veteran of eight or nine FarmDaze races, treasures the supportive community and the challenge of balancing socialization with focus.

Beth Johnson supports Chuck Martin, who initially aimed for a 50K but decided on a six-hour race, likely targeting a marathon distance. Beth helps Chuck stay motivated by running with him and cheering from the sidelines. She finds it inspiring to see runners achieve and surpass their goals, such as first-time marathon runners unexpectedly completing 31 miles, equating to a 50K. Beth has participated in the event a couple of times, primarily to have fun and support others, and is there to enjoy the day, meet new people, and possibly have a beer.

Even younger participants, like Meadow Fretwell, 9, and Greer McNew, 10, have embraced the event. Both were new to racing, overcame minor injuries, and found joy in the company and camping experience, eager to return next year.

The support and encouragement they received from the community helped them build confidence and a newfound love for running. FarmDaze 24 has seen some impressive feats of endurance. The current event record stands at 131 miles in 24 hours, achieved by Matt Collins.

The 2025 race winners included:
