Walter Carter Jr. was born December 14, 1941, in Waycross, Ga. He was born to the late Walter Carter Sr. and the late Emma Victoria Carter. Walter was the third child born into a family of 9 children. 3 children have since deceased.
In 1954 Walter’s family moved to Portal, Ga where Walter attended Willow Hill Elementary School. After a short stay in Portal, Ga, Walter’s family moved to Talbotton, Ga where he would mature into a young adult. In 1963 Walter had already returned to Statesboro, Ga. He held down the position of Film Projector Operator in the Georgia Theater located in downtown Statesboro. This was the year (1963) when Walter would meet the love of his life, Marie Murray.
In December of 1964, Walter left Georgia to pursue better opportunities to support himself and the new wife that he would marry. Walter and Marie were married on August 6, 1965. They settled down in New Jersey for the next 16 years, where they would have 2 children, Terence and Karen.
In 1973 Walter was introduced to something that would change his life forever. He was introduced to The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life. He studied these truths and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 3rd, 1973. Marie would learn these truths as well and dedicate her life in baptism on July 18, 1974.
Over the course of his life, Walter had many occupations, including becoming a chef for several years in both Neptune, NJ & Statesboro, GA. Most of all he enjoyed working as a truck driver for 39 years. In fact most people know him by his CB handle: “Big C”. However, he and his wife Marie are best known for their dedication to the Christian ministry. Walter loved to share his Bible based hope with as many persons that he could.
