James William Greenwood III, age 83, died on Wednesday September 11th 2024 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
Jimmy was born on March 9th 1941 in Savannah, GA to the late James William Greenwood Jr. and Helen Meyers Summerlin. He was raised in Savannah and graduated from Commercial High School. Jimmy went on to serve in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Newport News, retiring years later. He worked as a dental technician for many years, but also enjoyed working on lawnmowers and doing machine work. Jimmy loved antiques, watching football games year round, playing cards and pool, and making people laugh. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ray Wilson, and a daughter-in-law, Tessa Cassidy.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dianne L. Greenwood, his children, Barbara “Dawn” Wilson, Natalie Greenwood Coto (Dennis), Stephanie Greenwood Cox (Mark), Tony Cassidy, and Russ Cassidy (Stephanie), his grandchildren, Sarah Wilson, Logan Wilson, Dennis “James” Coto Jr. (Ashlyn), Kyle Coto (Bryce Ann), Brandon Cox, Bryce Cox, Jaylen Cassidy (Sierra), and Justin Cassidy (Leighanne), his eight great-grandchildren, and his sister, Mary Ellen Corbell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
