Lavon Moody was born in Claxton Georgia to Daniel Moody and the late Ruth Johnson Moody on September 16, 1957.

He was a 1975 graduate of Bryan County High School. He began his college career at Middle Georgia and later transferred to Kansas State University before returning home to attend Georgia Southern. While at Kansas State University he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi, joining his forever brotherhood. Mr. Moody worked as a machine operator at ITT Grinnell, Briggs and Stratton as well as Brodie International.

On Sunday, March 30, 2025, Lavon Moody passed away at his home at the age of 67. In addition to his mother and other loved family members, Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Mrs. Angerine McCrae Moody.

Survivors include his father, Daniel Moody (Evalena) of Pembroke GA, three sons, Jamal (Erica) McCrae of Yulee, FL, Tyrell Hill and Marquil Moody both of Statesboro, GA.; one sister, Jeanette Smith; three step-sisters Adriane Brannen, Angela Wright, Denise Brannen; one step-brother, Wilbur Brannen; six in-laws Quincy (Lafonda) McCrae, Iola Smith, Nelson McCrae, Darnell McCrae, Craig (Carolyn) McCrae and Melissa McCrae.; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, eight god-brothers and god-sisters, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 7 pm to 8 pm, in the chapel of Hill's Mortuary.

The funeral service for Mr. Lavon Moody will be held, Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc. with the Rev. James Howard, officiating. Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
