Edna Stewart Bell

Sister Edna Stewart Bell was born in Screven County Sylvania Georgia on February 3, 1951, to the late Wille N. Stewart and Mary Roberts Stewart. She departed this life November 18, 2024 in Augusta Georgia Piedmont Hospital.

In early life she was a member of Middle Branch Baptist Church; she was also a member of Common Grove Baptist Church and in later life she was a member of New Beginnings Unity Christian Church. She served in various positions; as secretary of church, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent.

Mrs. Edna Stewart Bell received her formal education in the Screven and Chatham County school systems where she was an honor graduate. She later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education from Fort Valley State College, Master in Library Science from Atlanta University and additional study at Atlanta University and South Carolina University. In the fall of 1973 she was initiated into the Delta Beta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

She became a member of Morning Light Chapter No. 284 O.E.S of Georgia. She was an educator in Burk, Emanuel, Screven, Allendale, Hampton counties and Rimini, Italy.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents Willie n. Stewart and Mary Roberts Stewart, sisters; Georgia M. Mobley, Juanita Stewart, Melvina Stewart Mackey, Ophelia Stewart Menafield, Lucy Stewart, Ellen Stewart, Anna L. Stewart-Rollen, Brothers; Willie Stewart, Ledemus Roberts, and daughter Kimberly Trisha Bell.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a sister, Arzlena Rhodes, best friends, Georgia Williams and Denzel Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ms. Bell will lie in repose at the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel for viewing, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 9 A.M. until the hour of service. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.

The funeral service for Ms. Edna Stewart Bell, will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc., the Rev. Willie Givens, Presiding and the Rev. Dr. Sherry Taylor, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Memorial Park Cemetery in Sylvania, Georgia.

Final rites have entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
