The Food Bank, Inc. of Statesboro is pleased to welcome new board members beginning the 2024 – 2025 fiscal year. Donald Chavers, Joel Hanner, Michelle Lammers, Rebecca Lau, LeAnne Robinson and Jennifer Wynn join an active and hardworking board that has guided Statesboro’s Food Bank through the opening of a new food pantry and education facility located at Miller Street and Northside Drive, West, across from Food World.
The Food Bank, Inc. is a vital part of the Statesboro community, providing approximately 14,700 meals for an average of 175 families per week. The food bank also serves families and individuals in surrounding communities.
The Food Bank will be holding its first fundraising event in the new building on Oct. 24, 2024. Kaleidoscope: a Culinary Celebration will be an opportunity for the public to enjoy excellent food, a silent auction, and assist in building a hunger free future for Statesboro and surrounding communities. Tickets are $37 per person and can be purchased from any board member or by contacting the Food at 912-386-1462. The $37 price is in honor of the Food Bank’s 37th Anniversary of service.
In the wake of Tropical Storm Debby, the Food Bank is still experiencing a high volume of need from those whose home were damaged. You can help with a financial donation, allowing the Food Bank to purchase needed food items directly from suppliers. You can give by texting StopHunger to 53555 and follow the prompts or mail a check to The Food Bank, Inc., PO Box 543, Statesboro, GA 30459.
In-kind food donations can be dropped off between 9:00 and 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Food donations must be unopened/un-used items.
