Brewton-Parker College is proud to announce the addition of Women's Flag Football, which will begin competition in the 2025-2026 academic year. To lead the program in its inaugural year, the Barons are also proud to announce the hiring of Sheldon Miller as the program's first head coach.
Coach Miller shared what it means to be the Barons' first Women's Flag Football coach and how he wants to build this program.
"First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to God for guiding me to this opportunity. I also want to extend my appreciation to Dr. Echols and Mr. Chris Dooley for allowing me to start the Women's Flag Football program at Brewton-Parker College. I am eager to take on the challenges of building a program from the ground up, as coaching at the collegiate level has always been a lifelong dream of mine. I believe this opportunity is tremendous for the school and the community of Mount Vernon. The foundation of this program will be based on the principles of G.L.U.E.: God, Loyalty, Unity, and Effort. I am convinced that with these core principles, we will successfully build the program and establish a strong, Christ-centered foundation for the young women who play at Brewton-Parker College. I am also thrilled to begin the recruitment process. I am already focusing on several key players and am looking forward to getting started. GO BARONS!"
Vice President of Athletics Chris Dooley shared, "We are excited to bring this program to Brewton-Parker. I have been watching the growth of women's flag football across the country, particularly in Georgia. There is a ton of local high school talent in our backyard, and we are looking to capitalize on that. We are equally as excited about being able to hire coach Sheldon Miller as our first head coach. Sheldon has a ton of football contacts in the local area, but just as important is his commitment to our mission at Brewton-Parker College. He will work to see the lives of our student-athletes transformed spiritually, academically, and athletically."
