City of Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar will host the 2025 State of the City address on Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. Over the past five years, McCollar has hosted annual State of the City events to highlight the city’s achievements from the previous year and share the city’s vision and goals for the year to come.
This year’s event will take place at the Emma Kelly Theater in Downtown Statesboro at 35 E Main Street.
“I’m extremely excited about this year’s State of the City address,” says Mayor Jonathan McCollar. “Statesboro is currently experiencing unprecedented growth. If you take a quick drive around town, you’ll see signs of new development in every corner of the city limits. During this year’s address, I want to take a look at Statesboro’s future and share a blueprint for where the city is headed.”
Topics to be covered during the address will include public safety, economic growth, capital improvement projects, housing, and strategic planning.
“Our city is at the precipice of historic growth and transition. We’re seeing more people call our city home than at any other time in its history,” explains McCollar. “I plan to speak not only to the victories of our past but also to the anticipated victories of our future.”
In addition to the official address, the program will feature a presentation of the flags by the Statesboro High School JROTC Color Guard, a musical performance, and a Q&A session with the Mayor. Light refreshments will be served following the program. Members of the public are invited to attend.
McCollar went on to add, “Whether you’re a resident, business owner, someone who works here, or just have a vested interest in Statesboro, I invite you to attend this year’s address and participate in what is guaranteed to be a night of insightful, meaningful dialogue."
