Backyard Spring Break Indoor Activities
Just a little over an hour away, Savannah will celebrate with the Savannah Music Festial March 23-April 8 with plenty of indoor venues. You can join in the fun and get tickets for many concerts for Spring Break activities. The venues will include jazz, roots, blues, and world music artists during, according to Explore Georgia, Georgia's largest music festival.

Backyard Spring Break Indoor Activities in Augusta
Next, travel a little over an hour away from Statesboro to Augusta to visit the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area museum to see what life was like in 1845.
In Augusta, visit the Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson or Meadow Garden, Historic Farm House of George Walton, one of Georgia's three signers of the Declaration of Independence.
In addition, explore Native American history and the Masters golf tournament as well as the life and music of James Brown at the Augusta Museum of History.

Backyard Spring Break Outdoor Activities
Jekyll Island and the Golden Isles create opportunities for backyard Spring Break outdoor activities.
According to Explore Georgia, you can head to Jekyll Island (a little over two hours away) for a history tour aboard a tram or a day at the Summer Waves Water Park. Also, you can see the turtles at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which has both indoor and outdoor space.
Next, you can climb the St. Simons Island Lighthouse and enjoy the beach. In addition, you can go shrimping on the Lady Jane Shrimpin' Excursions or even take a dolphin tour.
Speaking of shrimp, you may want to attend The Blessing of the Fleet Festival in Darien about an hour and 30 minute drive from Statesboro. The festival, held on April 21-23, is held in honor of the captains of local shrimp boats. During a maritime parade there, you can salute seagoing ships. According to Explore Georgia, it is the largest event of its kind on the East Coast. They also have a 5K run there, arts and crafts, and fireworks on display,

Back to Savannah again (outdoors)
You can go camping in Savannah, which is virtually in your own backyard, as an outdoor activity during spring break.
According to Explore Georgia, "Camp in spacious sites under the Spanish moss at Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah, a gem tucked in the marshes of the Georgia coast."

"Open-air picnic shelters and an enclosed group shelter are popular spots for parties, reunions and other celebrations. Trails wind through maritime forest and past salt marsh, leading to a boardwalk and observation tower."
Back to Augusta again (outdoors)
On the Georgia/S.C. border (about an hour from Statesboro), you can paddle along the Serene 18 paddle trail in Augusta. In addition, you can ride bikes along the Augusta Riverwalk and have a picnic there. Next, you can hike through the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park or kayak at the Augusta Canal National Historic Area Headgates. At that location, you can also take one of the Augusta Canal Petersburg Boat Tours.
