Thirteen students in the Dental Assisting program at Ogeechee Technical College received their pins in an annual ceremony held at 6:00 pm in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium on Thursday, July 18.

Yvonne Jenkins, Dental Assisting program director, welcomed the crowd of friends and family who were in attendance to celebrate their loved ones.

“I am always very proud of our graduates. They have to learn dental anatomy, human anatomy, oral pathology, pharmacology, nutrition, infection control, and many procedures and instruments,” said Jenkins. “One thing that makes this class unique is the way they have bonded.  In my 23 years teaching in the Dental Assisting program, I have never seen a class who worked so well together, constantly encouraged each other, and genuinely cared about each other this much.”

Sarah Reardon, Dental Assisting Class President, also gave some remarks to the crowd on behalf of the class.

“When starting this program, I naturally assumed that all of us girls would click. What I didn’t expect, was how quickly we became family,” said Reardon. “During the fall semester of our program, I received some bad news. You girls have no idea how much you’ve impacted such a difficult season of my life.”
