Update 4/18/24, 12:30pm:
On April 17, 2024 at 8:09 p.m. SPD officers on patrol near Statesboro Place Circle heard the sound of gunfire coming from The Vault Apartments. Flock gunshot detectors confirmed the location and officers began searching for any victims or suspects. Two males, one juvenile and one adult, were detained running from the 3 Building at the Vault.
Officers also located a 17 year old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the torso. The male was later flown to Memorial in Savannah where he remains. Detectives responded to canvass and process the scene while others interviewed the two detained males. Both were later charged with being Parties to the Crime of Aggravated Assault along with other, unrelated, offenses.
The juvenile was detained at Claxton RYDC while the adult, Jayden Staley (18, Chandler Rd, Statesboro), was transported to the Bulloch County Jail. The investigation continues, with other arrests anticipated.

Initial Story:
A teenager has been shot on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 and flown by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. This is the second shooting in the same area in less than 24 hours.
At approximately 8:10 PM Statesboro Police Department Officers and Georgia Southern University Police Department Officers responded to a shooting in The Vault apartments located at 1699 Statesboro Place Circle. These apartments back up to Copper Beech apartments where a SPD officer was shot on Tuesday night.
Officers arrived on the scene and confirmed that a teenage male had been shot and requested Bulloch County EMS to the scene.
Paramedics with Bulloch County EMS transported the male suffering from a gunshot wound to Air Evac 95 Medical Helicopters base on Fair Road at the Kiwanis Fair Ground. Air Evac flew him to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.
Two males were arrested fleeing from the scene.
