Volleyball head coach Chad Willis has elevated assistant Efrain Negron to associate head coach, he announced on Tuesday.
"We are excited to announce E's promotion to associate head coach. He's played a critical role in our program's continued growth on and off the court," Willis said. "E's love for the game and passion for coaching resonate throughout our team and we are incredibly grateful for his drive and work ethic. This elevation is a great opportunity to reward and acknowledge his loyalty and commitment to our vision while consistently positively influencing our program and people."
Negron, who joins Taylor Sherwin as an associate coach, has been instrumental in the team's rise over the past five seasons. The team recorded its first 20-win season since 2013 and the most Sun Belt conference wins ever during the 2023 campaign.
"I'm honored and grateful for the promotion, and I want to thank Coach Willis and our administration for the trust that they have in me," Negron said. "What an exciting time to be an Eagle... it's been a blessing to be a part of this staff for the past five years and I look forward to the future growth of this program."
During the 2023 season, the Eagles finished eighth in the NCAA in blocks per set and 11th in total blocks, leading the Sun Belt in both categories. The team also led the Sun Belt in hitting percentage with a .242 mark, all coming under the tutelage of Negron.
The Eagles will look towards the spring after a 23-win fall and are gearing up for what's in store during the 2024 season.
