Navigating life with autism can be challenging, but families now have access to a supportive and educational resource through the FREE course offered by Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing and Professional Education. The course is titled "Beginning Together: Autism Basics and Resources for Families."
This program is thoughtfully designed to empower participants with essential tools, practical strategies, and a welcoming community to help families grow and thrive.
This is a one hour and thirty minute course that will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from noon to 1:30pm. It will take place at the Georgia Southern CPE Center, located at 10449 US Hwy 301 South, Statesboro, GA 30458.
The course is led by two expert instructors, Christina Holland and Fay Blythe, both dedicated Parent Mentors who bring years of experience and deep passion to their work.
Christina Holland serves as a Parent Mentor with the Candler County Program for Exceptional Children, where she focuses on fostering collaboration between schools, parents, and the community to ensure children with special needs receive the resources and support necessary for success. Similarly, Fay is a Parent Mentor with the Bulloch County Schools Program for Exceptional Children, with a mission to support families and advocate for the needs of exceptional students.
Both instructors are committed to creating meaningful connections and equipping families with the knowledge they need to thrive.
Participants in the course will explore key topics such as understanding autism fundamentals, addressing everyday challenges, and accessing vital resources to support personal and family growth.
