Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC), a nonprofit committed to providing essential home medical equipment, has recently expanded to serve the Savannah area.

Founded in 1986, FODAC has spent nearly four decades enhancing quality of life for people of all ages with disabilities or medical needs. The organization provides items such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, and other medical supplies to individuals in need at little or no cost, relying primarily on donations.

FODAC operates with a one-time $25 fee for new clients to join their database, after which they can access equipment for life. The Savannah location also assists with light repairs and offers supplies, such as batteries for electric wheelchairs, for a small charge. Through partnerships with agencies like the Center for Independent Living (CIL) and Area Agency on Aging (AAA), FODAC is committed to reaching even more residents across rural and coastal Georgia.

Additionally, FODAC provides disaster relief support, recently donating 280 items of medical equipment to Emanuel County to aid in hurricane recovery efforts. They also offer the "Credit-Able" program, which grants low-interest loans for assistive technology to support individuals with specific accessibility needs.

For those interested, FODAC’s Savannah facility, located within Goodwill, is open to the public. To access services, individuals can call FODAC’s Savannah number at 912-667-1552 or visit their website at here.
