No visit to the fair could be complete without fair food, and at the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair, fairgoers can enjoy finger-licking treats while supporting great causes in the community!
From the fair entrance, the row of dining choices hosted by local groups is on the left, across from the stage. Whether you're looking for dinner or dessert--or some of each--there's plenty to choose from, and plenty of organizations and volunteers that make it possible.
The Statesboro High School Marching Band is one of the first groups most people see, with its brightly colored bags of cotton candy displayed around their tent.
Just behind the cotton candy stand, Pittman Park United Methodist Church hosts their annual concessions stand in support of missions operations near and far. Their food and space is perfect for families or couples looking for a meal before hitting the rides - or needing a place to take a break!
New this year, Pittman Park is offering a refillable cup. The cup is just $8 with refills for only $1.
A little further on, Bulloch County 4-H hosts an expansive offering of concessions that help the local students in 4-H club offer programs for their members.
And of course, just past the entrance and on the right is the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair's legendary Pancake House, where Kiwanians serve fresh pancakes and sausage every night until close. A pancake plate is just $8.
Proceeds from the Pancake House are used to help the local community, especially children's programs and services. Tyrone Willis of the Kickback Shack is re-opening the BBQ Hut next to the Pancake House this year, too. Tyrone gives so much back to our community; stop by to grab some BBQ and say thank you!
And while some are for-profit operations, you'll also find an alley full of delicacies from all-local vendors just down from the Pancake House, between the Arts & Crafts Building and the 4H Building. With choices ranging from sweet funnel cakes to fall-off-the-bone ribs, there is sure to be something for everyone.
(Oh, and don't forget to stop by the Old Country Store for a Coke and some peanuts!)
Behind the bright lights and loud noises, fairgoers can also find a quiet oasis for infants - the fair's Baby Comfort Station, annually hosted by the Ogeechee River Baptist Association.
Fair week is always a great reminder of what a special place Statesboro and Bulloch County are, and local residents and visitors are encouraged to enjoy great food, festivities, and fun while supporting the many great causes that we care so much about.
