Georgia parents & guardians of special needs students in public schools have until Wednesday, June 30th to apply for a reimbursment grant. The funds stem from $10 million Gov. Kemp set aside for education due to the COVID pandemic. The goal of these grants is to help those families with special needs children heavily affected by the pandemic.
Georgia has about 222,000 special needs students in public schools. Families of any of those students who have been in the Georgia public school system since at least March 13th of 2020 are eligible for the financial aid.
The Georgia Department of Education describes the expenses eligible for reimbursement as "challenges these students face regarding educational achievement, personal development, and emotional wellbeing."
