Cypress Lake Road between Riggs Mill Road and Country Club Road is temporarily closed following an automobile crash that resulted in possible structural damage to a bridge. Authorities have established a detour route using Old Riggs Mill Road to Pulaski Road and from Country Club Road to Parrish Road.
According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Post 45 Sergeant Robbie Scott, a citizen walking along Cypress Lake Road on Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2025, discovered an overturned vehicle in the water near the bridge just south of Country Club Road. Public safety officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the driver of the Nissan Frontier pickup truck.
Officers determined that the truck had been reported stolen on Sunday night. During the crash, the vehicle struck a support beam for the bridge, leading engineers to close the structure for inspection and repairs. Officials announced that the bridge would remain closed overnight to allow a specialized team from Atlanta to conduct a thorough inspection.
Motorists traveling in the area should plan for additional travel time due to the detour.
