As our community continues to recover from TS/Hurricane Debby we are working to get all of the information people impacted by storm in one easy reference place.  Bulloch VOAD continues to lean on GA VOAD and National VOAD partners to bring as much assistance to the community as possible.

Bulloch County Public Safety and EMA continue to push out road and other helpful information on their Facebook Page.  Check there often as well.

Storm victims

At this time we encourage anyone with a storm related need to contact the Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief Command Center located at Southbridge Community Church, 12376 US 301, Statesboro, GA.  You can also contact them by phone or email below.

Phone: 770-853-0729
Email: [email protected]
Web: GABaptist.org

All GABDR volunteers are trained in mold remediation and flood cleanup, have had background checks and are credentialed.

Some of the services they are providing FREE for flood victims:

  • Remove anything floodwaters has touched including furniture, flooring, wallboard, insulation, cabinets and more.
  • Treatment of homes with Shockwave sanitizer to inhibit mold growth
  • Citizens can receive premixed Shockwave at the command center if they bring a container
  • Citizens who do not have a sprayer, they will provide a sprayer with Shockwave

They are also helping keep a list of unmet needs and have teams here working to assess and assist.

If they can't provide assistance they can hopefully connect you to other organizations that can assist.

Make sure anyone assisting you are credentialed and vetted members of Georgia Baptist Diaster or have been registered and vetted by them.

Our goal with a central source of assistance is to prevent bad actors from coming in and taking advantage of victims.  Use caution when accepting aid or assistance from anyone you do not know that has not been vetted by Georgia Baptist or Bulloch County VOAD.

Safety Reminders

Use generators safely. Always use them outdoors and at least 20 feet from windows, doors, and attached garages. Make sure to keep the generator dry and protected from rain or flooding.

Flooding can affect power systems, as utility companies may shut down portion of the electrical grid. If the power goes out, use only flashlights or battery-powered lanterns for emergency lighting. Never use candles during a blackout or power outage due to extreme risk of fire.

Document any property damage. If you’re able to safely do so, take photos and contact your insurance company right away for assistance and next steps.

Use caution when cleaning up. Wear protective clothing, including a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, work gloves, and sturdy thick-soled shoes. Do not try to remove heavy debris by yourself. Use an appropriate mask if cleaning mold or other debris. People with asthma and other lung conditions and/or immune suppression should not enter buildings with indoor water leaks or mold growth that can be seen or smelled. Children should not take part in disaster cleanup work.
