Local barber, Terry Lamonte, was named OTC’s 2025 Outstanding Alumni Award winner during the 2nd annual We Are OTC event held April 3 at The Market at Visit Statesboro.

This year, the 11th Annual Outstanding Alumni Awards Presentation was included as part of the festivities of the recently established We Are OTC community-wide event. The annual alumni award ceremony recognizes and celebrates OTC graduates who exemplify success and serve as role models in their fields. The awards are presented in two categories: Recent and Distinguished, with one alumnus honored in each category. Each applicant remains eligible for consideration for three consecutive years.

Lamonte, a 2018 graduate of the Business Management Program, is a distinguished entrepreneur, master barber, and community leader. After earning an Associate Degree in Business Management from OTC, he pursued his passion for barbering, becoming a certified Master Barber and later establishing Heavenly Pleasures Barber Shop.

“I’m incredibly honored to win this alumni award,” said Lamonte. “Ogeechee Tech is an incredible place to get an education. I always felt supported, whether it was from the faculty, staff, or administration.”

Beyond his professional success, Terry is deeply committed to mentorship and community service. He founded a barber academy to train aspiring barbers and actively participates in charitable initiatives, including food drives, Toys for Tots, and motivational speaking engagements.

The Recent Alumni category recognizes an alumnus who has graduated in the past 10 years, and who has notable recognition in their field with a promise for continued success.
