On May 14, 2023, many of us will be celebrating Mother’s Day; honoring and remembering those exceptional women in our life. The mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, surrogate mothers, mothers-to-be, mother figures and all of the other women that fill this role in various ways.
However that way may be, we acknowledge the immense gratitude that our hearts overflow with for their presence in our lives not just on this day but every day.
For me, Mother’s Day is a day to reflect on the precious memories made with my late mother and grandmother. It’s also a time I enjoy honoring my girls who are both now mothers. While this day is dear to me, I knew I wanted to do something special this month in its honor…So, in honor of this special holiday, I had the privilege of partnering with Lazar Oglesby, owner and operator of Honey Specialties.
Together, we collaborated to come up with the best of both worlds–her famous cheesecake and one of my specialty wedding cakes–to make the most perfect wedding cake cheesecake. We had the joy of making sixteen of these delicious beauties, which were made available for preorder this past week.
For those of you that do not know, Honey's Catering was first started in 2012. Lazar started out with her great aunt's hand-me-down KitchenAid mixer; only offering two cheesecake flavors to her customers. (Did you know it took her five years to perfect her cheesecake recipe?) She now proudly offers over one hundred flavors and reports making anywhere from 90-125 cheesecakes on average per day. And not a single cheesecake leaves her kitchen without her touch.
Lazar is truly the cheesecake queen, and what an honor it was to have the opportunity to spend a little time with her in the kitchen this month. If you haven’t already, I urge you to give Honey Specialties a try.
