With the help of the community, the Statesboro Jaycees spread Christmas cheer in Statesboro and Bulloch County by overseeing the Toys for Tots drive this year. 73 families and a grand total of 180 children received toys at the toy pickup day on Saturday, December 12 at Kiwanis Fairgrounds.
“I couldn’t be happier with how smoothly everything went,” says Statesboro Jaycees VP of Development, Hayden LaTulip. “A lot of that is thanks to Mr. Willie Haynes for guiding us through this process and for all of his help and oversight. We could not have done it without him.” Mr. Haynes is Chief Warrant Officer-3, Local Community Organizer for the Toys for Tots program.
Southbridge Community Church and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at Georgia Southern University also volunteered, and several local businesses collected toys.
Statesboro Jaycees President Hugh Mays said, “This year was especially tough. We are grateful that the community came together to make this drive a success.”
The Statesboro Jaycees look forward to hosting the drive again in 2021.
