Students in the dental assisting program at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) recently visited Pre-K classrooms across the region in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month.
“I’m happy that we have the opportunity to share this information with the children. It is important that children start good dental health habits now for a lifetime of good oral health," said dental assisting program director, Yvonne Jenkins.
Each group of dental assisting students was responsible for creating their own presentation and educating students about oral health and nutrition.
Each OTC student facilitated games, talked about germ bugs (bacterial plaque), proper brushing habits, flossing, snack choices, and what a trip to the dentist will be like. Each child received a new toothbrush and coloring sheets.
OTC students visited the following area Pre-K classrooms for their presentations:
- Brooklet Elementary
- Bulloch Academy
- Southeast Bulloch
- Stilson Elementary
They also visited Bryan County Head Start and Toombs County Head Start. To learn more about the Dental Assisting program at Ogeechee Tech, click here.
