East Georgia State College (EGSC) hosted a disc golf tournament to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the College. The tournament was held Saturday, April 15, at EGSC’s Piney Woods Disc Golf Course on the Swainsboro campus. It was a free, recreational one-round singles tournament that was open to the public.
There were 24 throwers in the competition with 18 in the open competition and six in the youth division. The winner of the 50th Anniversary Disc Golf Tournament was Levi Proctor. Michael “Clem” Clemons placed second, and Chace Ellison placed third after a playoff with Grayson Johnson and Matt Bates.
There were awards given out to the EGSC alumni, EGSC student, and the youth competitor with the best scores. The Top Alumnus Award was awarded to Levi Proctor. Nathan Headrick was named the Top EGSC Student Competitor, and in the youth category, Cola Akridge and Sheppard Purcell tied and both received recognition.
EGSC’s Piney Woods Disc Golf Course is both challenging and fun, with mature trees and a naturalized atmosphere, alongside a beautiful pond near the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center. The 5,280-foot course begins at the gazebo side of the pond and winds through the perimeter of the pond.
EGSC would like to thank everyone who competed and supported the tournament! The College would also like to thank the members of the 50th Anniversary Committee for organizing and planning the tournament.
Congratulations to the winners!
