In the late summer of 2023, the Georgia Southern Performing Arts Center (PAC) hired a new Director, Daniel Brown. In addition, the PAC has undergone large-scale renovations and has begun incorporating a new ticketing software that is user friendly and will allow for easier communications between the PAC ticket office and patrons.

They are excited to share this great news about the PAC, Georgia Southern University's premier performing arts venue with the capacity of 829 seats, an elevator, and 12 ADA-compliant accessible seats.

"The venue serves as an educational facility for both Georgia Southern and Bulloch County students, in addition to being used to facilitate education and training in both the performing arts and the entertainment industry," Brown shared. "The PAC is a destination rental venue and hosts an annual season of both touring and regional performances that include Comedians, Symphonic Orchestra, Singers, Theatrical Productions, and more."

Meet Director Daniel Brown

Allow me to introduce Daniel Brown, who was hired by Georgia Southern to help the PAC’s future programming align with the university’s mission.
Brown, an Alabama native, has worked with several regional theatres, including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Cloverdale Playhouse, and Montgomery’s historical Davis Theatre.

Having spent 12 years working with the Texas Shakespeare Festival, serving as the Director of Patron Services, he earned his MFA with a concentration in Arts Management from the University of Alabama and his BA in Communications and Dramatic Arts from Auburn University at Montgomery.

In his free time, Brown enjoys playing Pokemon GO and spending time with his dog, Crystal.

Renovations will impress!

Inside the facility, PAC patrons will see brand new carpet, fresh coats of floor-to-ceiling paint in the lobby and atrium, and new modern comfortable lobby furniture. The stairwells received a facelift with the installation of carpeting and floral arrangements. The PAC stage was completely refinished benefiting the artists and students participating in events. This includes a complete overhaul to all 5 dressing rooms including paint and flooring more suited to the traffic of the space.

Outside, the PAC parking lot has been repaired, recoated, repainted and resealed. The landscaping in the parking lot has been completed with an installation of an irrigation system, large planters full of florals, and greenery along the sidewalk.

Spring at the PAC

With the renovations nearing completion and a new ticketing software being implemented, the PAC team is setting its sights on renewing programming for the 2024-2025 academic year and diligently working to bring patrons shows for Spring 2024. Traditional seasonal booking will resume in the fall.

The PAC is shifting its programming to be more in line with Georgia Southern University's Mission:

‘At Georgia Southern University, our learner-centered culture prepares us to think, lead, teach and serve. We value collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness and inclusion and sustainability. We promote talent and economic development to enhance quality of life through scholarly pursuits, cultural enrichment, student life and community engagement across distinctive campuses. Our success is measured by the global impact of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.’

Programming at the PAC aims to increase educational opportunities for Georgia Southern students while showcasing their talent and excellence. They will be increasing the School Matinee series (student access to the arts) while planting the seed of possibilities for future Eagles.

“My biggest goal is to incorporate the students of Georgia Southern and the students of Bulloch County into educational programming at the PAC," Brown said. "With our beautiful state of the art space, students at the University are able to further their education through practical hands-on experience through productions, concerts, master classes, and to know that the PAC is here to help them soar.”

Brown encourages the community to keep an eye on Grice Connect for updates and announcements about the PAC and its programming for the coming year.

Brown concluded, “This year has not been traditional. We have had many challenges, but the PAC has a lot to offer everyone. I'm thrilled to join Georgia Southern University and look forward to meeting and getting involved with the Statesboro community. The future is bright and the next chapter is just around the corner."
