Statesboro Sports & Memorabilia and R&S Packing & Moving will host the Lazy Turkey Card Show and Furniture Storage Cleanout Sale this Saturday, November 19th, from 8am to 8pm at the Holiday Inn Statesboro University Area (next to Chili’s).

The event will present sports trading cards and memorabilia, household furniture, and arts and crafts. R&S will also host vendors at the event and hold a raffle for attendees.

If that’s not enough, you will get a rare chance to meet with former Dallas Cowboys and University of Georgia quarterback Quincy Carter and former Washington Redskins player Billy Kilmer, who will both be signing autographs and meeting fans.

In addition to the football stars, local child actor, Trace Todd, will also make an appearance. Trace, a student at Brooklet Elementary School, recently obtained his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card and has appeared in Fear the Walking Dead, Halloween Ends, and the new Civil War series currently filming in Savannah.

The entry fee is $5 at the door or $3 in advance. All money made from the show and sale will go toward funding the Roosevelt’s Character Development Center scholarship fund. The center is located in downtown Statesboro and serves as an educational program to help kids build character. The curriculum for the program revolves around the 6 pillars of good character set by the staff: fairness, worthiness, respect, responsibility, caring, and citizenship.

“This month is thanksgiving, so it’s all about being faithful and caring for others,” said Shelby Cone, co-owner of R&S. “So every mentoring session is about why it’s important to care for others, why it’s important to give and to be thankful. Whether it’s an art activity, whether it’s a game that we play — we do a lot of trivia, we do a lot of board games — it just all centers around that certain pillar of character for that month.”

Another sports card trade show is currently set to be hosted in February titled the Lazy Cupid Card Show. Stay tuned for details.
