Statesboro City Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Growth is on the minds of both city and county leaders since the announcement of Aspen Aerogels and Hyundai building plants.

The city is working to update their entire zoning ordinances. While waiting for this process to be completed, they felt there were a few urgent areas that they could not wait on. The first was the rewrite and development of a townhome ordinance.

They approved the new townhome ordinance at their last meeting. At their meeting Tuesday night they approved two new townhome projects under this new ordinance.

In addition, they decided to continue to put a hold on sign revisions for another 180 days continuing a moratorium on processing and consideration of sign variances.
