Judge Scott Allen Keynotes Bulloch County Historical Society Meeting

Statesboro native and Augusta resident, Judge Emeritus Scott Allen, was the keynote speaker for the monthly Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) meeting on Monday, January 24, 2022. Judge Allen is the son of the late Judge Francis and Margie Allen.

This was the first in person meeting the BCHS held in over two years due to the COVID pandemic. They required participants to be fully vaccinated to attend the meeting.

Judge Allen is a graduate of Statesboro High School and UGA. He is also a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Degree in Law.

He has lived in Augusta for 35 years and is married to the former Sandra Salley.

Judge Allen served for 27 years as the Presiding Judge of Civil and Magistrate Court of Richmond County.

He shared colorful stories of what it was like growing up in Statesboro. Highlighting families that made an impact on his childhood forging relationships and memories that he has cherished. Judge Allen also shared some comical stories from his experiences on the bench. You can watch his presentation along with the entire program below.

After the program, Virginia Anne Franklin Waters, Executive Director of the BCHS and Joe McGlamery, President of the BCHS presented awards to three members.

Bede Mitchell was recognized for his years of service as a board member.

Rodney and Nadyne Harville received the 2020 Jack N. & Addie D. Averitt Award for Excellence.

Burney C. Marsh received the 2021 Smith Banks Award for Volunteerism

The delicious traditional southern meal served to the members was prepared by Annette McCray owner of "Touch of Class" catering.
