The Bulloch County NAACP honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on MLK Day, Monday, January 17, 2022 with a drive-in event at Mill Creek Park.

The event, “Fighting Forward,” featured Statesboro Native, Bishop Shama D. Lewis. Bishop Lewis is the Resident Bishop, Richmond Episcopal Area Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. Bishop Lewis presented the keynote address from Richmond.

A large number of citizens came out for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. legacy event which featured local dignitaries and a Liturgical Dance by the Y.I. Praisers. Two food trucks provided dinner for the celebration.
