Bulloch County NAACP Cancels Parade & Youth Brunch | Drive In Service Continues

In a statement Thursday, January 13, 2022 The Bulloch County NAACP announced they will cancel the annual MLK parade and Youth Brunch. Bulloch County COVID risk level increased to SEVERE this week.

They will continue with the Community Drive In Service at Mill Creek on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 6:00 PM.

Here is the statement in full:

"The Bulloch County NAACP worked with great efforts to ensure the 2022 Martin Luther King, Jr. events would honor the legacy of Dr. King and remind us that there is much more to do and we must continue Fighting Forward in our efforts.

However, after careful consideration and many conversations with the City of Statesboro regarding the safety of our beloved members and residents, the Executive Committee has decided to cancel the MLK Parade and Youth Brunch.

The Community Drive In Service at Mill Creek Park will still take place on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 6:00pm.

During the Drive In, the 2022 MLK Grand Marshal, Charles Hendrix will be presented.

Those groups who entered floats will be able to present their floats during this events should they desire.

The speaker for the evening is one of our very own, Bishop Sharma D. Lewis, the daughter of true civil rights leader, Charlie and Alethia Lewis."
