Statesboro School of Dance and Artistic Director Shay Morgan are excited to celebrate 10 years of their annual production of ‘The Nutcracker’ Ballet. Started in 2012, thousands from our area have watched this beautiful classic ballet performance as they celebrate the holiday season.

This year’s ballet, proudly presented by Bulloch Pediatrics Group, will take place Saturday, December 4th at the Georgia Southern University Performing Arts Center.  There are two opportunities to take in this Christmas tradition – 1pm and 5pm – and tickets are available through the Performing Arts Center.

The classic ballet features Claire Pagliarullo as Clara, Charlotte Pagliarullo as Fritz, Katherine Whitlock as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Zoe Pantin as the Snow Queen.

The Nutcracker Ballet follows the story of young Clara Stahlbaum, as her toy Nutcracker comes alive, battles the Mouse King and visits magical realms. Danced to the Nutcracker Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky, this ballet has become a staple holiday performance and Christmas season kick-off.

“I am proud of all of my Statesboro School of Dance dancers, from those who were in the first Nutcracker in 2012, to the ones who will be performing this year. Their hard work and dedication can be seen as they take the stage. I have been very thankful that, through the years, I have gotten to do what I love and then share that love of dance with others. It really has been a dream come true.” stated Shay Morgan.

A new addition to this year’s performances is the Nutcracker Tea, sponsored by Bulloch Pediatrics Group, ME Marketing Services, and Statesboro School of Dance. From 3:45-4:15pm on Saturday, December 4 (in between the two performances), guests can visit and have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and sweets with the character of Nutcracker.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and is a separate event from Nutcracker. All proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Bulloch County. Statesboro School of Dance provides dance classes to the children of the Boys and Girls Club every November-March, and the children perform at Statesboro School of Dance’s annual praise and worship performance, Faith in Motion.

Tickets for the tea can be purchased online at https://www.etix.com/ticket/o/6625/ssod.
