The free Mako Medical COVID testing site in downtown Statesboro has performed over 4,000 COVID tests in the past three weeks ending on August 29.

The Southeast Health District contracted with Mako Medical to take over the regional testing site in Statesboro so they could concentrate on vaccinations.

The multi county testing site had been located at the Bulloch County health department prior to contracting with Mako Medical.

Mako Medical initially set up the testing location at Luetta Moore Park but had to move to the Rail Road Street parking lot in downtown Statesboro after renovations began on the park.

This team has performed extraordinary work in keeping up with the testing demands of the COVID surge. They work under a drive through tent and have to battle the elements in addition to having to wear layers of protective clothing.

Remember them with Random Acts of Kindness

Over the past few weeks we have tried to highlight front line health care workers who are giving their all, putting their person health on the line, to take care of our community. We at Grice Connect have encouraged the community to step up and perform random acts of kindness to show our appreciation for their dedication.

You all have responded in tremendous ways in providing treats, meals, chalk painting sidewalks and purchasing additional supplies for our critical health care workers at EGRMC, Bulloch EMS and at other providers and support locations.

This week we ask all of you to add this team to your kindness list. They often work through lunch without a break to keep up with demand. In one day alone they tested over 400.

Please join us in sending out some Grice Good to these wonderful folks this week.
