Fireworks-2021

The much anticipated annual event, Firecracker Fest came back with a BANG after a break last year due to COVID-19.

According to Broni Ganious, Community Relations Manager for Bulloch County this years event saw record crowds. Recreation officials estimated over 5,000 citizens attended the event in person and thousands more watched the fireworks show live streamed on Grice Connect.

Thanks to Synovus bank and Briggs and Stratton, Coca-Cola, the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, Brickhouse Live, Blanchard Equipment and Statesboro Golf Carts for sponsoring the Firecracker Fest this year.

If you missed the fireworks show you can watch the entire show below:

The entertainment was a hit with the popular Sweetwater Junction band and Statesboro favorite Chyann Rose. Rose also sang the national anthem to kick off the fireworks.

Children of all ages loved the addition of wet and dry inflatables this year.

Ganious said over 40 toads were entered in the frog jumping contest including tree frogs and bullfrogs.

The expansion of food vendors spread throughout park was also a very popular addition.

Much Improved Traffic Exit Plan

One of the best parts of the event was the ease in which everyone was able to exit the park. Park officials worked with local law enforcement agencies and implemented an improved exit plan. A big difference resulted in the Georgia State Patrol handling traffic at the Veterans Memorial Parkway and East Main Street. In previous years, they allowed the red lights to handle the traffic, which delayed traffic and backed it up significantly, even with reversing both lanes of East Main street to allow quicker exit.
