Finally, the City of Statesboro is correcting one of the worst intersections in the City. The intersection of Northside Drive East and Buckhead Drive, between KFC and Checkers. That intersection has been a no holds bar, take your life in your hands trouble spot for years.

This week, construction crews have began making some permanent changes to the intersection of Northside Drive East and Buckhead Drive.

Now vehicles traveling westbound on Northside Drive will no longer be able to turn left onto Buckhead Drive.

Later this week or early next week, vehicles traveling northbound on Buckhead Drive will no longer be able to turn left onto Northside Drive.

They will be placing permanent concrete islands in the left hand turn lane from Buckhead Drive to Northside Drive. They are also expanding the right hand turn lane to the bypass.

This should enhance and increase traffic flow and prevent accidents at the intersecvtion.

Underground Excavating from Patterson, Georgia has the contract for the work and hopes to have the project completed by the end of January.
