The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has extended the deadline for physical disaster loan applications for businesses and residents impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The new deadline to apply is April 27, 2025, following delays caused by a federal disaster funding lapse from October 15 to December 21, 2024.

The extension applies to disaster declarations in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, and West Virginia, where residents and businesses suffered significant damage from the storms. Those affected can apply for SBA disaster assistance loans online through the MySBA Loan Portal at https://lending.sba.gov or visit locally designated assistance centers.

Businesses, nonprofit organizations, and homeowners in the impacted areas may be eligible for low-interest loans to repair or replace damaged property. Loan amounts and terms are determined on a case-by-case basis based on financial need.

For further assistance, applicants can contact the SBA Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center by phone at 1-800-659-2955 or via email at [email protected].

Signed by SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler on February 26, 2025, the announcement also allows other states affected by the 2024 funding lapse to request deadline extensions if necessary.
