"As of 4:15 PM, we have restored power to 97% of our service territory with 834 members still without power. We still have 293 outages across our distribution system.
We have truly seen the best from our community in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. This was a historical event for all of Georgia, and that makes a mark on people's lives. One of Excelsior EMC's own linemen Jessie Harshner provided this moving testimony after an interaction with some of our members.
"I arrived at a location this morning that had been without power for 9 days. The family had been waiting patiently for their power to be restored. After I got their power back on, a mother and her two beautiful little girls came out to greet me. They thanked me for fixing the power and handed me handmade thank-you cards they had created from scrap paper they found in their dark house. My heart melted seeing how happy they were to have power again. Moments like this make working 16-18 hour days worth every minute. Thank you so much for the handmade cards. I will always cherish moments like these. Moments like these remind us to stay humble."-Jessie Harshner, Excelsior EMC Lineman
We are so proud to be part of this community. We are nothing without the members who support us. The outpouring of love we have felt is astonishing. You all will never know what it means to this cooperative to have you rally behind us in the darkest moment in Excelsior EMC's history.
Throughout this restoration event, you may have seen us mention "Tent City". Our tent city is provided by Storm Services, LLC, a company who specializes in providing essential infrastructure to communities in the wake of natural disaster. Excelsior EMC has put together an "inside look" at tent city. We hope you find this as interesting and educational as we have."

Thank a lineman
Now is the time to shower all of the linemen who are working tirelessly around the clock to restore our power with kindness and patience. Many of these dedicated workers have traveled long distances, leaving their families behind to help us.
If you have a sign in front of your business, please use these to thank the linemen. Any show of support for them will go a long way.
