Neighbors helping neighbors stories are flooding in to Grice Connect.  From helping cut trees from roadways to cleaning up each others yards, the stories are heartwarming. In a storm this vast, there are simply not enough resources to go around. Many of our public safety workers have had little sleep in the past 72 hours. We owe all of you a great debt of gratitude.

Our friends at Excelsior EMC encourage us that if your home has power, please consider extending a helping hand to neighbors still without. A warm meal, a hot shower, or just a place to rest can mean the world during times like this.

With the large numbers of power outages remaining, power companies are telling us we should all be prepared for multi-day outages. They need lots of patience, and those of us who have power need to extend lots of kindness.

The Grice Connect team has created a resource guide and we are updating it daily. This guide highlights the wonderful organizations and individuals who are stepping up to help our neighbors in need.

Here are a few highlights for Sunday.

Debris Cleanup

Residents impacted by Hurricane Helene can now request cleanup assistance through a dedicated hotline. By calling 844-965-1386, victims can be connected with volunteers from various local, regional, and statewide organizations, including community groups and faith-based communities. These volunteers can assist with tree removal, tarping and debris cleanup.

Registering a need with Crisis Cleanup does not guarantee your need will be met and there is not timeline for assistance at this point. It is a volunteer-run organization. But it is free to request assistance, and any assistance offered through Crisis Cleanup teams will be free to you.
