Trees blocking roads

Bulloch County VOAD is requesting any citizen who has tractors, heavy equipment and chainsaws to assist with clearing roads, especially dirt roads in Bulloch County.

There are literally hundreds of roads that are impassable throughout Bulloch County due to trees being down from Hurricane Helene.

Local public works departments are overwhelmed and need the communities help.

If you can help, please self deploy and make sure the trees are cut at least three foot from the shoulder of the roadway.  Leave debris there, but take a picture and document the location of the debris and email to [email protected].

Do not cut trees that are entangled in power lines.  These must be cleared by the power companies.

This is a time when our community can shine in helping our friends and neighbors.

Individual assistance

We are receiving alot of individual requests for assistance as well.

Residents impacted by Hurricane Helene can now request cleanup assistance through a dedicated hotline. By calling 844-965-1386, victims can be connected with volunteers from various local, regional, and statewide organizations, including community groups and faith-based communities. These volunteers can assist with tree removal and debris cleanup.

If you need individual assistance in removing a tree from your home or property please call the Crisis Cleanup Hurricane Helene hot line at 844-965-1386.  Crisis cleanup is a call center that documents needs in all communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.  As needs begin to come in, Bulloch County VOAD can begin requesting assistance from across the country to respond to assist us.

By registering a need with Crisis Cleanup does not guarantee your need will be met and there is not timeline for assistance at this point.  But it is free to request assistance and any assistance offered through Crisis Cleanup teams will be free to you.

To be clear it is a volunteer organization ran by volunteers.  There are thousands of communities impacted by this storm and all of them will be requesting assistance as well.

If you have a local organization or group that wants to help assist individuals, you can register as a team through Crisis Clean up as well.

To further bolster the recovery efforts, volunteer teams are encouraged to sign up. Existing volunteer teams can log in and click "Request Redeploy" to access the incident.
