Bulloch County is monitoring TS Milton.
At this time Southeast Georgia including Bulloch is predicted to experience only a portion of Milton’s impact, the storm is poised to cause major damage in parts of Florida, especially around Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota, and Fort Myers. Recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene in Bulloch and across Georgia are still underway, and any additional impacts from Milton could slow those efforts.
Several southeastern Georgia counties are expected to experience tropical storm force wind gusts and significant rainfall between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has issued an advisory for Camden, Glynn, McIntosh, Charlton, and Ware counties, where wind gusts between 30-40 mph are possible. While the rest of South Georgia is not expected to see wind gusts over 30 mph, these conditions could still hamper ongoing recovery efforts in areas impacted by previous storms, particularly weakened trees that may be brought down by gusts.
In addition to the wind, southeastern Georgia counties are expected to receive heavy rainfall. An estimated 2-4 inches of rain could fall on Wednesday and Thursday in Echols, Clinch, Ware, Brantley, Pierce, Wayne, McIntosh, Glynn, Charlton, and Camden counties. Some areas, especially Camden, Glynn, and Charlton, may receive up to 6 inches of rainfall, increasing the risk of isolated flooding.
Although widespread flash flooding is unlikely, residents in areas expected to receive the highest rainfall totals should stay alert for potential localized flooding. There is already some light rain moving through parts of South Georgia, but this is unrelated to Tropical Storm Milton and is expected to dissipate by Tuesday morning.
