On Monday, July 29th, Fordham’s Farmhouse Restaurant marked its 20th anniversary with a public celebration honoring two decades of serving delicious, old-fashioned home cooking to the Statesboro community.
Founded by Allen and Suzy Fordham in 2004, the restaurant has become a beloved local staple, known for its warm, hospitable atmosphere that makes everyone—from guests to staff—feel like part of the family.
The restaurant was born from a dream to create a business that offered more than just food, but also a place where families and friends could gather over wholesome meals. Allen, who earned a degree in accounting but has always been drawn to entrepreneurship, saw an opportunity to acquire a local restaurant business. With the support of Suzy and their community, Fordham’s Farmhouse was born.
One of the standout features of Fordham’s is its unique dining experience. Patrons move through a cafeteria-style line, choosing from a variety of home-cooked dishes. The menu rotates daily, offering different specials and discounts depending on the day of the week.
This approach not only keeps the menu fresh but also ensures that there's always something new to try. While many dishes have garnered a loyal following, the restaurant’s fried chicken is particularly famous, often described as the best in town.
The recent anniversary celebration was filled with nostalgia as many patrons shared fond memories of visiting Fordham's. Many spoke of the tradition of bringing their families to the restaurant, a practice that has spanned generations. It’s not uncommon to hear stories of guests who dined at Fordham's as children and now bring their own children, passing on the tradition of enjoying hearty, home-cooked meals in a comforting environment.
Pam, a current server at Fordham’s, has witnessed the restaurant's journey firsthand. With 40 years of experience in the industry, the last four of which she spent at the Farmhouse, Pam has a deep appreciation for the Fordham family and the restaurant's culture.
“Oh, I adore this place. Working for Suzy and Allen, well, they’re just the best. After working in restaurants all my life, I’m happy I ended up here. It’ll be the last place I work,” she shared, highlighting the strong sense of belonging and satisfaction she feels working there.
Reflecting on the past 20 years, Suzy Fordham expressed deep gratitude and a sense of fulfillment.
"It’s been an incredible journey serving the Statesboro community. We've always aimed to create a place where people can enjoy a hearty meal and feel at home, and seeing generations of families come through our doors has been truly rewarding," she said.
“We are incredibly proud to have reached this milestone," she also shared. "Our biggest accomplishment has been staying true to our roots and serving our community with meals that bring people together. From families looking for a healthier alternative to fast food to students craving a taste of home, we’ve been privileged to be a part of their lives.”
Suzy’s words highlight the restaurant's enduring commitment to providing a welcoming space where delicious, comforting meals are a staple.
So, if you haven't had a chance yet, head over to Fordham's Farmhouse to enjoy a hearty, home-cooked meal and be part of a legacy that has brought joy and comfort to so many.
