The 12th Annual CASA Superhero Run on Saturday, October 26, 2024 brought together runners, volunteers, families, and local heroes who rallied for children in foster care at the eagerly anticipated event in Guyton.
This year’s run drew participants and supporters from across Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties to make a difference for children who need a voice, raising $23,500 in funds that directly benefit CASA Ogeechee.
The morning was filled with excitement as caped runners, masked volunteers, and cheering supporters turned the streets into a celebration of heroism. The community's collective spirit fueled the event, with many new faces joining long-time supporters for a record-breaking turnout. From colorful costumes to a vibrant atmosphere, the 12th annual run reinforced the mission of CASA to support and advocate for children in the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit.

A Powerful Testimony
One special highlight of the event was hearing from Amy, a CASA volunteer who has dedicated over 6 years to advocacy for one family. At this year’s CASA Superhero Run, they reunited to volunteer together. A former foster youth shared her powerful story of resilience and gratitude as she volunteered to give back to the organization that supported her through challenging times.
She spoke about her experience of being heard and supported by her CASA, Amy, who stepped in during a time when she and her sisters felt overlooked in the foster system. Amy’s advocacy provided her with a rare sense of validation and respect; she actively listened to what the sisters wanted and consistently ensured their voices were part of the conversation.
“When we met Amy, it was nice to have someone listen to us, go to court, and advocate for our feelings. [Before meeting Amy] it was really hard, no one would listen to us, it was more about my parents, and not what me and my sisters wanted. Once we met Amy, we actually had a voice now. It was nice to have her [then] and to still keep in contact with her today.”
Amy reflected on the meaningful bond she formed with the girls over six years, underscoring how proud she is of their accomplishments, now pursuing a degree in Public Relations and her sister aspiring to become a doctor. This heartfelt connection between a CASA volunteer and the young lives they impact beautifully demonstrates the lasting, positive influence CASA has in shaping brighter futures.
CASA Ogeechee continues to strive toward a future where every child has a dedicated, trained volunteer advocating for their best interests. The funds raised from the Superhero Run allow us to recruit, train, and support more of these essential volunteers, furthering our mission to bring stability, care, and hope to children in foster care.
Generosity of Sponsors
This year’s event would not have been possible without the generosity of its sponsors, whose support has made a tangible impact on CASA's work to improve outcomes for vulnerable children.
CASA Ogeechee extends its heartfelt thanks for their commitment to its mission, as well as to each volunteer who devoted their time to help the event run smoothly.
