Yellow Jacket Softball Collects 11-3 Win Over Georgia Southern Eagle Softball Tuesday

Georgia Southern returns to action on Friday, March 17, hosting ULM in the first of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series. First pitch will be 4 p.m. and it will be St. Patrick's Day at Beautiful Eagle Field.

ATLANTA - Georgia Tech collected an 11-3 non-conference softball win over visiting Georgia Southern on Tuesday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 15-9 overall with the win, while Georgia Southern falls to 10-12. It was the first meeting for current Eagle head coach Sharon Perkins against her former school - Perkins coached at Georgia Tech for seven seasons, from 2007-13.

Georgia Tech opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning on a leadoff double and a sacrifice fly. The Yellow Jackets then added four runs in the bottom of the third, keyed by a two-run home run by Mallorie Black.

The Yellow Jackets then broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth with six runs. The Eagles tried to extend the game in the top of the fifth as Faith Barth delivered a two-out RBI single, then Emma Davis followed with a two-run double, but Georgia Tech starter Chandler Dennis got a flyout to end the game.

Dennis (9-3) went five innings, giving up two hits and three unearned runs to notch the win for the home squad, walking three while striking out four. Bailey Holland (3-7) took the loss for the Eagles in the circle, giving up five hits and five runs in 2 2/3 innings of work, walking one.
