Statesboro STEAM Academy is gearing up for some exciting action this Saturday, November 9, as senior Isaac Brooks and junior Kaedin Caine head to Carrollton, Georgia, to compete in the 2024 GHSA Cross Country State Championships, presented by the Atlanta Track Club! This is a huge moment for Statesboro STEAM Academy.

Each of these guys have worked extremely hard this past season. Caine is true to this, not new to it.

“Being able to go to state for the second time is a surreal feeling,” Caine said. “My constant improvement this cross country season was way more than I thought I could ever do.”

For Brooks, this is his first full season, but his improvement is all thanks to the support he’s had over the course of the season.

“Even though this is my first full season, it has definitely been an improvement from being the boy who got lost and took an hour to finish a trail two years ago, to recording some of the fastest times at our school,” Brooks said. “But it is really a big thanks to Mr. Corliss [Reese], Mr. Benji [Lewis], Statesboro STEAM, and our coach, Tony Normil, who showed me the blueprint but also encouraged me to keep going.”

Both boys understand that this is a huge milestone and are excited to represent the STEAM Academy literally and figuratively by showing the competition what STEAM is all about — working hard to get where they want to be.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Isaac and Kaedin representing our school on the state stage. The competition will be fierce, but we know these two are ready to leave it all on the course,” STEAM Superintendent Corliss Reese said.

Good luck, gentlemen!
