STATESBORO – Last Saturday, the LCMS Blue Devils defeated the Effingham County Rebels 44 to 34 to win their first region title in over 10 years.

The Blue Devils came out the gate swinging and didn’t look back as they left the Rebels in the dust. In the first quarter, the young Blue Devils jumped out to a 10-0 start. That margin only seemed to widen as the game went on. The Blue Devils are such a fast-paced team that if you blink, you could miss something.

The Blue Devils have defeated teams this season by their ability to push the ball down the court. They are dangerous because they can move and shoot from all areas on the court. You can expect Kevin Sello and Skyler Bostic to be bringing the ball down the court as they juke out defenders left and right, as Zakarion Griffin sinks down to the corner for the open-look three, all the while Andru Tuff and Charles Harris beat their defenders for position on the block for the easy lay.

Leading scorer for the Blue Devils was eighth grader, Skyler Bostic with 14 points. Following his performance was eighth grader Kevin Sello with 11 points, eighth grader Zakarion Griffin with 10 points, eighth grader Charles Harris with six points and eighth grader Andru Tuff with three points.

They move the ball well and have already been exposed at the next level after playing in a couple junior varsity games at Statesboro High School. In some of those games, the recent Coastal Empire Region Champs went 20 for 25 from the free throw line as a team, and that’s just a taste of what they are going to be able to accomplish next year.

Head coach Quincy Hills ws so proud of his boys and thankful to all those who made it possible for his team to accomplish this great feat.

“This is something we’ve been talking about since day one," Hills said. “2013, it’s been a long time, so this was our year. The boys bought in. Thanks to the parents, our school, and the community. We did it!”

The Blue Devils finish out the season undefeated with a 21-0 record. Head coach Quincy Hills will miss his eighth graders, but knows they will exceed greatly at the next level.
