Helton announces nineteen new Eagles

Georgia Southern head football coach Clay Helton officially announced the addition of 19 new student-athletes to the program, including transfers and early high school graduates, who enrolled in school in January and have been working out with the program.

Georgia Southern head football coach Clay Helton has officially announced the addition of 19 new student-athletes to the program who enrolled in school in January and have been working out with the program. Fourteen of those newcomers are transfers and five are early high school graduates.

Of the 14 transfers, nine are from NCAA Division I programs, coming from programs such as Oklahoma, Auburn, Washington State, North Carolina and Indiana. Seven play offense, six play defense and one is a specialist. Here is the list of all 14 transfers, in alphabetical order:

  • Chance Gamble, DB (Fitzgerald, Ga., Fitzgerald/Kennesaw State)
  • Davon Hicks, LB (Fort Pierce, Fla., Vero Beach/Washington State)
  • Jeremiah Holmes, DB (Baxley, Ga., Appling County/Georgia Military)
  • Justin Kanyuk, OL (Bath, Pa., Bethlehem Catholic/North Carolina)
  • Deantre Morris, DB (Atlanta, Ga., Therrell/Kennesaw State)
  • Deuce Petty, WR (Warner Robins, Ga., Warner Robins/Tuskegee)

Five players graduated high school early and enrolled in January. They are:
