The Georgia Southern men's basketball team announced its roster on Monday, which features eight newcomers and six returning players.
Six players will be returning from the 2022-23 roster that went 17-17, including starters Tyren Moore and Carlos Curry. The roster returns 28.7 percent of its scoring from a year ago, with Cam Bryant, Derrick Harris Jr., Luke Keller and Nate Brafford round out the six familiar Eagles. Moore is the leading returning scorer, averaging 9.7 ppg last season.
First-year head coach Charlie Henry brought in five transfers during the off season, including one that will stay in the Sun Belt.
Joining the fold are Malik Tidwell (Bluefield State), Deuce Dean (Hampton), Eugene Brown III (Ohio State), David Jones (Indian Hills CC) and Jamar Franklin (South Alabama). While at Bluefield State, Tidwell averaged 20.8 ppg, while Dean was second on Hampton in scoring during the 2022-23 season, averaging 12.8 ppg.
Henry also brought in a trio of freshman to the 2023 class. Eren Banks (Eatonton, Ga.), Collin Kuhl (Holly Springs, N.C.) and Avantae Parker (Columbia, S.C.) will be making their Eagles - and collegiate - debuts during the 2023-24 season.
Six athletes on the 2023-24 roster hail from the state of Georgia. Bryant and Harris Jr. (Camilla), Brown III (Conyers), Curry (Albany), Banks (Eatonton) and Keller (Suwanee) will each be playing in their home state in the upcoming campaign. For more information, click here.
